Write to us
There is no account, so we cannot see your measurements or projects. Tell us what happened, your iPhone model, and the app version (Settings → About → Version). Never send a password or card details.
The app’s own short guide is in Settings → About → How to measure. Settings opens from the gear on Projects.
Calibrate the level
Every iPhone’s sensor sits a little off, and a case or a camera bump tilts it more. Calibrating once takes that out. You need any steady table; it does not have to be level, because two readings cancel out its own tilt.
- Open Settings → Level → Calibrate. Leave the case on if you measure with it.
- Lay iPhone flat on the table, screen up. Note where it lies: line it up with the table’s edge, or mark its corners with a pencil. Tap Set and keep your hands off while it reads.
- Turn iPhone round 180° on the same spot, so the top is where the bottom was, inside the same outline. Tap Set again.
If iPhone moved during a reading, the sheet says so: hold it still and tap Set again. Turning it on another spot, or lifting it and putting it down crooked, gives a wrong calibration; start again. Reset to factory, in the same sheet, removes the calibration.
The level keeps a calibration for each way iPhone lies: flat, on its long edge, and upright. Calibrate each one you use, holding iPhone that way when you start. With Pro, Calibration profile keeps separate calibrations, for example with and without a case.
Use the ruler
- Open Ruler and lay the object on the screen.
- Drag the two red lines to its two ends. The reading is the distance Between the lines. The glass edge is not a zero: always use the two lines.
The ruler knows the screen size of each iPhone model. For the truest scale, calibrate it with a card: Settings → Ruler → Calibrate, lay a bank or ID card face down where the screen shows, and swipe up or down until the line meets the card’s end. Nothing on the card is read; only its standard size is used.
The ± in a result
A result says how far off it may be: a number with “±” after it. Nine in ten measurements of the same thing fall within it. It is rounded up, never down, and a number never shows a finer digit than its ± can back.
- Results worked out from the camera, such as an angle on the camera protractor, always show their ±. Face the surface square on: a camera angle is only true then.
- The level and Tilt show a clean reading on screen and keep their ± in the saved record. Calibrating the level makes it smaller.
- A calculation from a measured value, such as a cut angle from the protractor, carries its ±.
If two readings of the same thing differ by more than their ±, calibrate and try again, and write to us if it persists.
Level an RV or trailer
RV levelling is part of Pro.
- Open Level, lay iPhone flat on the vehicle’s floor or table, and tap the vehicle button.
- The first time, Add a vehicle: a trailer or a motorhome, its Track width (from the middle of the left wheels to the middle of the right) and its Axle to hitch or Wheelbase. You enter them once.
- The level then says which side to raise, and by how much, with its ±. Put blocks under that side and read again.
A trailer: while it is still hitched and level, tap Save hitched reading. Once unhitched, the level shows Back to hitched and says how far to raise or lower the hitch to bring it back to the same height.
Calibrate the level first, on a table inside the vehicle: the ± gets smaller.
Restore Pro, Family Sharing
Pro is one purchase, yours for good, with no subscription. To unlock it on a new iPhone, after a reinstall, or on a family member’s iPhone:
- Sign in to the App Store with the Apple account that bought it, or one in its Family Sharing group.
- Open Settings → Pro → Restore purchase. The Pro sheet has the same button.
“Pro is active” means it worked. “Nothing to restore” means this Apple account has no purchase: check the account in the App Store. Pro works with Family Sharing, for up to six people in the family, if the buyer has purchase sharing on (Settings → your name → Family Sharing → Purchase Sharing). Once unlocked, Pro works offline.
iCloud and a new iPhone
With iCloud Drive on, Trulevel keeps a copy of your saved readings, projects and photos in your iCloud Drive, in a folder named Trulevel (Files app → iCloud Drive → Trulevel). A new iPhone or a reinstall finds them there, and two iPhones on the same Apple account stay in step, merged item by item.
- Turn it on or off under Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Drive on your iPhone.
- After a reinstall, give the files a minute to download; photos can come a little later than the list.
- Calibrations and settings stay with each iPhone, because each sensor is different: calibrate a new iPhone again.
Delete your data
Slide a saved reading to the left to delete it; touch and hold a photo for Delete photo; in a project, the … button has Delete project. Deleting the app removes everything on the iPhone, and the copy in iCloud Drive can be deleted in the Files app. The Privacy Policy has every case.
Ask Apple for a refund
Apple handles every payment and every refund. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple account you bought with, choose “Request a refund” and pick Trulevel Pro. Apple makes the decision; we cannot refund a purchase ourselves, but write to us if something went wrong and we will help.
